Quick start: install Hubbo in five minutes

Create an account, copy your embed snippet and see your first Hubbo widget on your own site.

Hubbo is installed with a single script tag. That one script loads every enabled module for your account: notifications, NPS, surveys and the roadmap Web Component. This guide takes you from zero to a live widget.

What you need

  • A Hubbo account at app.hubbo.io (the Free plan is enough to start).
  • Access to the HTML of your site, or to the layout/config file of your framework.
  • The origin of your site saved in your account settings, for example https://example.com.

Step 1: copy your snippet

Open the admin app at app.hubbo.io and go to Settings → Get Embed. The page shows a ready-to-paste snippet with your account key already filled in. It looks like this:

<script src="https://api.hubbo.io/embed?key=ACCOUNT_KEY" id="hubbo-embed-script" async type="module" crossorigin="use-credentials"></script>

Replace ACCOUNT_KEY with the key shown in the app. All attributes matter, so copy the snippet exactly as the app gives it to you.

Step 2: paste it into your site

Paste the snippet at the end of the <head> section or anywhere inside <body>. Because it is loaded with async and type="module", it does not block rendering.

  1. Open the template or layout that is shared by every page you want Hubbo on.
  2. Paste the snippet and deploy.
  3. Open your site in a normal browser window (not inside the Hubbo admin app).

Step 3: publish something

The widget only shows content that is published. Create a notification, enable NPS or publish a survey in the admin app, then reload your site. The embed script boots on the first page load and mounts the modules that have content to show.

Verify in DevTools

In the Network tab you should see a request to api.hubbo.io/embed?key=... with status 200 and requests to api.hubbo.io/graphql. If you do not, jump to Troubleshooting.

What happens on a page view

The first time a visitor loads a page with the snippet in a browser session, Hubbo counts one page view. Page views in Hubbo are session-unique visitors, not raw pageloads, so opening ten pages in the same session is still one page view. Read Page views explained for the details.

Your own site counts

Pages served from your real origin count toward your plan. Signed-in previews inside the Hubbo admin editor do not, which is why previewing is the safest way to test. Public pages on app.hubbo.io still count.
