Glossary

Definitions of the terms used in Hubbo and in this documentation.

Terms are listed alphabetically.

Term	Definition
Account	A Hubbo project tied to one website, with its own key, content, team and counters. Also called a project.
Account key	The identifier in your embed snippet. Also called project key. It is public and not a secret.
Admin app	app.hubbo.io, where your team manages content and settings.
AI NPS analysis	One-click report under NPS → AI analyses (Standard and Premium): summary, causes of low scores, concrete fixes and signal chips from a filtered sample of responses.
AI Translation	One-click action on Translations panels that fills empty locale fields from the main language using AI. Does not overwrite text you already typed.
API host	api.hubbo.io, which serves the embed script and the GraphQL API.
Appearance defaults	Account-level look for a product (Notifications, Surveys, Road Map, NPS). Items inherit them until customized.
Analytics	Admin tab with product funnel metrics (Shown, clicked/completed, dismissed, rates) and public status/roadmap session views. Separate from plan page-view limits.
Audience	A reusable targeting snapshot (devices, timing, throttling, visitor auth, seen notifications, URL rules) managed under Settings → Audiences and loaded into Targeting forms.
Category	The type label on a notification: message, warning, news, fix, improvement, announcement or feature.
Channel	Where a notification appears: widget or page. Push and email exist as options but are not delivered.
Component	A service shown on the status page.
Detractor	An NPS respondent who scored 0 to 6.
Embed script	The script tag that loads Hubbo on your site.
GraphQL	The query language of the Hubbo API. Visitor-facing operations start with client_.
Identify	Optional page API (window.hubbo.identify / reset / getVisitor) so Targeting can treat a visitor as logged in. See Identify visitors in Developer Docs.
Messages	The admin area for conversations with visitors (sidebar → Messages). Not the visitor-facing notification widget.
Incident	A status page entry describing an ongoing problem.
Maintenance	A status page entry for planned downtime.
Main language	The default locale for visitor-facing copy. Translation overlays only override fields you fill; the rest inherits this language.
Notification widget	The visitor-facing list of notifications opened from the bell on your site (Widget channel). Opening it marks listed notifications as seen for Targeting.
NPS	Net Promoter Score: a 0 to 10 recommendation question and the score computed from it. Pair with AI NPS analysis on Standard and Premium.
Origin	The scheme, host and port of your website, saved in the account. Controls CORS.
Page view (PV)	One unique browser session that loaded Hubbo on your site. The unit of your plan allowance. Distinct from Analytics “page views” on status/roadmaps.
Passive	An NPS respondent who scored 7 or 8.
Shown	Analytics impression: the overlay or widget mounted for a unique browser on a given item.
Preview	A signed-in view of content inside the admin editor that does not consume page views. Public app.hubbo.io pages still count.
Promoter	An NPS respondent who scored 9 or 10.
Roadmap	A public, read-only board of what you are building.
Role	A set of permissions assigned to a team member.
Seen notifications	Targeting rule based on which notification ids were marked seen when the visitor opened the notification widget in this browser.
Session cookie	The hubbo_pv_* cookie that marks a browser session as already counted.
setLang	Optional page API (window.hubbo.setLang / getLang) that pins the locale for embed overlays and public status/roadmap pages (also syncs `?lang=` / iframe URLs). See Set visitor language in Developer Docs.
Targeting	Shared rules for devices, delays, throttling, visitor auth, seen notifications and URLs on notifications, NPS and surveys.
Throttling	The percentage of eligible visitors who are invited to an NPS, survey or notification.
Translations	Sparse per-locale overlays on visitor-facing text, usually created with AI Translation. Empty fields inherit the main language. On the embed: setLang pins a locale; otherwise browser, then identify locale traits.
URL rule	A whitelist or blacklist entry that limits notifications, NPS or a survey to certain pages.
usageAllowed	A flag returned by the API. When false, widgets are not shown because the plan allowance is used up.
Variant	How a notification is presented: top bar, popup, toast or tooltip.
Visitor auth	Targeting choice Anyone / Logged in / Logged out, driven by whether the host called hubbo.identify().
